I did not use PS Plus, first of all. I ahve the disk version, with no data on an extended storage drive. Turned on both my PS5 and PS4 pro, went to system>data transfer and followed the instructions, having both consoles using ethernet cables. Selected my God Of War save and no issues from there once everything had copied over. Best of luck.
